The Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) Department at Horizon College is equipped with modern, state-of-the-art laboratories that provide students with practical exposure and experimental understanding of theoretical concepts. These labs are crucial for skill development, innovation, and research, enabling students to meet industry expectations and technological advancements.


Core Laboratories in the ECE Department:

1. Electronic Devices and Circuits Lab

  • Focus: Design and testing of analog circuits using diodes, BJTs, FETs, and op-amps.
  • Tools: CROs, signal generators, multimeters, breadboards, and simulation software.

2. Digital Electronics Lab

  • Focus: Implementation of combinational and sequential logic circuits.
  • Tools: Logic analyzers, digital ICs, FPGA kits, and VHDL/Verilog tools.

3. Analog and Digital Communication Lab

  • Focus: Hands-on experiments in amplitude, frequency, and phase modulation, pulse code modulation, and digital transmission systems.
  • Tools: Modulation kits, spectrum analyzers, and MATLAB/Simulink.

4. Microprocessors and Microcontrollers Lab

  • Focus: Programming and interfacing using 8085, 8051, and ARM-based processors.
  • Tools: Development boards, logic trainers, interface modules (ADC, DAC, motors, displays).

5. VLSI Design Lab

  • Focus: Design, simulation, and synthesis of digital circuits using HDL.
  • Tools: Xilinx ISE, ModelSim, FPGA boards, and EDA tools.

6. Embedded Systems Lab

  • Focus: Development of embedded solutions using microcontrollers and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Tools: Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ARM Cortex kits, sensors, wireless modules.

7. Signals and Systems Lab

  • Focus: Analysis of signals in time and frequency domains.
  • Tools: MATLAB, Scilab, and signal simulation platforms.

8. Antennas and Microwave Lab

  • Focus: Study of wave propagation, antenna characteristics, and microwave devices.
  • Tools: Antenna trainer kits, microwave benches, directional couplers, waveguides.

9. IoT and Wireless Sensor Networks Lab (Advanced)

  • Focus: Hands-on implementation of Internet of Things (IoT) and sensor-based systems.
  • Tools: IoT kits, NodeMCU/ESP32, Zigbee/Bluetooth modules, cloud integration platforms.

10. Project & Innovation Lab

  • Focus: Final year and interdisciplinary projects, product development, and prototyping.
  • Tools: 3D printers, soldering stations, PCB design tools, access to all lab resources.
