Our <strong>Intellectual Property (IP) Policy<\/strong> provides a clear framework for the ownership, protection, and commercialization of intellectual property developed within the institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This policy ensures that creators receive due recognition and that innovations contribute to societal and technological progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Objectives of the IP Policy:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To foster an ecosystem that supports innovation, invention, and creative work<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To define the rights and responsibilities of the institution and inventors in managing intellectual property<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To provide guidance on patent filing, copyright registration, trademarks, and IP commercialization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To ensure compliance with national IP laws and international best practices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To encourage industry collaborations, licensing, and startup development based on institutional IP<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scope of the Policy:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Patents (inventions, processes, and systems)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Copyrights (software, books, educational content, artworks)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trademarks and logos<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Designs and integrated circuits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trade secrets and confidential know-how<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ownership &amp; Rights:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Intellectual Property created using substantial institutional resources (labs, funding, facilities) will be jointly owned by the <strong>inventor(s)<\/strong> and <strong>Horizon College<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If developed independently without institutional support, the IP will be solely owned by the <strong>creator<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For collaborative work with external entities, ownership will be governed by the terms of the MoU or funding agreement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Filing and Protection Process:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Submit the <strong>Invention Disclosure Form<\/strong> (IDF) to the R&amp;D or IP Cell<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Initial review by the <strong>IP Evaluation Committee<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Filing of IP application through a registered IP attorney or directly via IP India portal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitoring, prosecution, and publication of application<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Regular updates shared with the inventor(s)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Commercialization &amp; Revenue Sharing:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The institution actively supports licensing, technology transfer, and startup incubation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Net revenue generated from commercialized IP will be shared as follows (standard model):\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Inventor(s):<\/strong> 60%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Institution:<\/strong> 40% (for reinvestment in R&amp;D and innovation activities)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Responsibilities of the Inventor:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Maintain confidentiality until IP is filed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid disclosure through publications or presentations before filing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cooperate with the IP Cell and legal advisors during the filing and prosecution process<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dispute Resolution:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Any conflict regarding IP ownership, revenue sharing, or authorship will be reviewed by the <strong>IP Dispute Committee<\/strong>, and final decisions rest with the <strong>Principal\/Director<\/strong>
