IIC & EDC Policy
Fostering Innovation and Entrepreneurship on Campus
At Horizon College of Engineering, we believe in nurturing a culture of innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship among students and faculty. The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) have been established to drive this vision forward through structured programs, mentorship, and support systems.
The IIC & EDC Policy serves as a formal framework to guide innovation activities, promote entrepreneurial mindsets, and support the creation of startups and impactful projects.
Objectives of the Policy:
- To create an ecosystem that encourages innovation and entrepreneurial activities on campus
- To develop institutional infrastructure to support ideation, prototyping, and startup incubation
- To promote interdisciplinary collaboration and industry linkage
- To support students and faculty in patenting, funding, and commercializing their innovations
- To align institutional innovation efforts with national programs like Startup India, Atal Innovation Mission, and MHRD’s Innovation Cell
Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC)
Key Focus Areas:
- Conducting innovation-centric workshops, hackathons, and seminars
- Identifying and mentoring student innovators and faculty researchers
- Promoting Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) awareness and filing
- Encouraging participation in national innovation challenges
Roles & Responsibilities:
- The IIC will be responsible for planning, executing, and reporting all innovation-related activities
- It will collaborate with external organizations, industries, and academic partners for co-innovation opportunities
Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC)
Key Focus Areas:
- Entrepreneurial skill development through bootcamps, webinars, and training sessions
- Business idea validation, market research support, and business plan development
- Connecting student startups with mentors, incubators, and funding agencies
- Organizing networking events with successful entrepreneurs and alumni
Support Offered:
- Access to co-working spaces, startup labs, and incubation support
- Seed funding through institutional and external grants
- Guidance for legal, marketing, and operational aspects of startups
Policy Implementation:
- IIC & EDC activities will be governed by a committee comprising faculty, industry experts, alumni, and student representatives
- Annual innovation and entrepreneurship calendar will be prepared and monitored
- Regular performance evaluations and activity reporting will be done through the National Innovation and Startup Policy (NISP) portal
Review and Updates:
Continuous feedback from stakeholders will be incorporated to improve the effectiveness of initiatives
The policy will be reviewed annually to align with dynamic innovation trends and regulatory frameworks
