At Horizon College of Engineering, we are committed to fostering a campus culture that is inclusive, respectful, and supportive of students from all backgrounds. The SC, ST, OBC & Minority Cell functions as a vital body to safeguard the rights and welfare of students belonging to marginalized and underrepresented communities.
This cell ensures that the policies of the Government of India and statutory bodies such as the UGC and AICTE are implemented in letter and spirit.
Objectives of the Cell:
- To ensure equal opportunity and access to academic resources, support services, and campus facilities for SC, ST, OBC & Minority students
- To create awareness about constitutional rights, scholarship schemes, and reservation benefits
- To provide guidance and counseling on academic, financial, and personal matters
- To address grievances related to discrimination or inequality and ensure timely redressal
- To promote participation in co-curricular, cultural, and leadership activities
Functions of the Cell:
- Act as a bridge between students and the institution in addressing concerns related to inclusion and equity
- Disseminate information regarding government scholarships, fellowships, and welfare schemes
- Organize seminars, workshops, and empowerment programs on education, rights, and opportunities
- Collaborate with the Grievance Redressal Committee to resolve complaints fairly and sensitively
- Maintain records of beneficiaries and conduct periodic impact assessments
Support Services Offered:
- Assistance in applying for national and state scholarships
- Mentoring support from faculty and senior students
- Guidance for competitive exams and career building
- Access to remedial classes, bridge courses, and soft skills training
- Community-specific support initiatives and celebrations
