At Horizon College of Engineering, discipline is a fundamental value that sustains a safe, respectful, and productive academic environment. The Disciplinary Committee has been constituted to oversee matters related to student conduct, address violations of college rules, and enforce corrective actions with fairness and integrity.

The committee works proactively to foster accountability, respect, and mutual understanding within the campus community.


Objectives of the Committee:

  • To maintain a peaceful and orderly academic atmosphere on campus
  • To investigate and address incidents of misconduct, indiscipline, or breach of college regulations
  • To ensure due process and fair hearings for all students involved in disciplinary matters
  • To counsel and guide students toward behavioral improvement
  • To create awareness about ethical behavior, college policies, and legal responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Committee:

  • Review complaints or reports of misconduct involving students
  • Conduct impartial inquiries and gather necessary evidence
  • Provide the accused party an opportunity to present their side
  • Recommend appropriate disciplinary action based on the severity and nature of the offense
  • Maintain records of disciplinary cases and resolutions
  • Promote preventive measures such as awareness drives and student code of conduct orientation

Types of Issues Handled:

  • Academic misconduct (cheating, plagiarism, exam malpractice)
  • Acts of indiscipline (disruption, disobedience, vandalism, harassment)
  • Violation of college policies (dress code, attendance, hostel rules, anti-ragging)
  • Substance abuse or possession of banned items
  • Cyber misconduct or misuse of college digital platforms

Possible Disciplinary Actions:

  • Warning or verbal counseling
  • Written reprimand
  • Temporary suspension from classes or activities
  • Deduction of internal marks (in case of academic misconduct)
  • Debarment from exams or events
  • Expulsion in extreme or repeated cases

All actions are taken in accordance with institutional guidelines and are documented for official records.

Legal or Psychological Advisor (if required)

Chairperson – Senior Faculty Member

Dean of Student Affairs

Heads of Departments (as relevant)

Faculty Advisors

Student Representative (non-voting)
