Anti Ragging Committee
At Horizon College, we are committed to ensuring a safe, supportive, and harassment-free environment for all students. The Anti-Ragging Committee is dedicated to preventing and addressing any incidents of ragging on campus, fostering a culture of respect, empathy, and mutual understanding among students.
Purpose of the Anti-Ragging Committee
The primary objectives of the Anti-Ragging Committee are:
- Prevention: To create awareness and implement measures to prevent ragging and related activities on campus.
- Complaint Redressal: To provide a structured platform for students to report ragging incidents confidentially and ensure swift resolution.
- Monitoring: To monitor and assess campus dynamics, ensuring that no student faces any form of harassment or intimidation.
- Support for Victims: To provide counseling and support for students who may have experienced ragging or harassment.
Functions of the Anti-Ragging Committee
- Awareness Campaigns:
- Organizing workshops, seminars, and orientations to educate students, faculty, and staff about the consequences of ragging and the importance of maintaining a respectful campus culture.
- Distributing anti-ragging literature and guidelines among students and parents.
- Strict Monitoring & Vigilance:
- Regular monitoring of student activities through surprise inspections, CCTV surveillance, and interactions with students and faculty members.
- Encouraging faculty and hostel wardens to be vigilant and report any suspicious behavior.
- Complaint Handling and Investigation:
- Setting up a confidential helpline or email for students to report incidents of ragging.
- Conducting prompt and impartial investigations into any reported incidents.
- Disciplinary Actions:
- Taking strict action against those found guilty of ragging, in accordance with university regulations and UGC guidelines.
- Implementing appropriate disciplinary measures, ranging from counseling to suspension or expulsion, depending on the severity of the incident.
- Support for Affected Students:
- Providing counseling and emotional support to students who have been victims of ragging.
- Offering a safe space for students to discuss their concerns and experiences.
🔹 Composition of the Anti-Ragging Committee
The Anti-Ragging Committee is composed of members from various departments to ensure a fair, impartial, and collaborative approach in addressing any ragging-related issues:
- Chairperson: The Principal/Director of Horizon College
- Members:
- Senior faculty members from various departments
- Student representatives (ensuring a student-centered approach)
- Hostel warden(s)
- Campus security personnel
- External members, such as legal experts or counselors (if applicable)
- Grievance Redressal Cell:
- A dedicated cell for addressing grievances related to ragging and other student welfare issues.
Anti-Ragging Measures and Initiatives
- Anti-Ragging Helpline: A 24/7 helpline for students to report ragging incidents, available on the college website and in hostel rooms.
- Zero-Tolerance Policy: A strict zero-tolerance policy towards ragging, with clear consequences for offenders.
- Student Orientation Program: Introduction to the college culture, ethics, and rules against ragging during the first week for all freshers.
- Counseling Sessions: Regular counseling sessions for both new students and seniors to promote positive peer relationships.
